April is Car Care Month!

Published on Jun 14, 2023 by Dylan Weiher

Each year, the Car Care Council sponsors two months every year to raise awareness about preventative maintenance and car care. National Car Care Month is in April, and Fall Car Care Month is in October.

It seems that April marks the beginning of the end of winter. Take advantage of this chance to get your car or truck serviced, so you can hit the road for Spring and Summer road trips!

You can improve your vehicle’s safety and dependability by performing basic maintenance, plus you can avoid costly repairs in the future. If car care is neglected, it may result in more expensive repairs down the road, as well as lost resale value. If you own a car, it probably needs some repairs. Maintain your vehicle during National Car Care Month!

Here are some tips from our Certified Service Managers to help you keep your vehicle in great shape!

Schedule a Full Tune-up

Our Service Team will conduct a complete inspection of your vehicle when you schedule a full tune-up. It is better to have frequent tuneups at regular intervals than to neglect it and have to pay for a major tune up.

Replace Wiper Blades

If your wiper blades are cracked, cut, torn, streaking or chattering, replace them at least every six months for optimal performance and safety.

Have your tires checked

The tread wear on tires should be checked for uneven or irregular wear, as well as bruises and cuts along the sidewalls. Every year, you should check your car’s alignment to improve fuel economy and handling while reducing tire wear.

Breaks should be inspected annually

Every time you change the oil, you should inspect the brake system and the brake linings, rotors, and drums.

Oil, Filters and Fluids

In addition to checking and replacing oil after every fill-up, your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant fluid, and windshield washer fluid should also be checked. Our Service Technicians will automatically do this for you when you stop in for an oil change.

Battery Connection

Clean, tight, and corrosion-free battery connections are ideal. It is recommended to test and, if needed, replace batteries that are more than three years old.

Inspect for Exhaust Leaks

You should have your exhaust system checked for leaks, damaged supports or broken hangers if there is an unusual noise. If you have an exhaust leak, you need to have it fixed immediately.

Steering and Suspension Inspection

The steering and suspension system, including shock absorbers and struts, as well as chassis parts, such as ball joints and tie rod ends, should be inspected every April (or at least annually).

Schedule your Service today!

Maintaining your vehicle can reduce the likelihood of expensive repairs down the road as well as improve its safety and dependability. If you’ve been putting off any lingering issues over the winter, now would be the best time to take care of them.
