The 2024 Dodge Charger EV: The Ultimate Game-Changer in Electric Muscle Cars

Published on Jun 13, 2023 by Talia Mushinsky

Are you a die-hard muscle car enthusiast wondering how the electric revolution will shape the future of your beloved vehicles? Meet the 2024 Dodge Charger EV, which is poised to redefine the electric muscle car genre. This latest offering from Dodge might just sway even the most devoted gasoline vehicle devotees.

In an age when hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly gaining mainstream acceptance, Dodge has unleashed the successor to its iconic Charger: a sleek two-door muscle car that echoes its '60s predecessor's charisma and sports an avant-garde powertrain, bridging the past with the present.

While many thought Dodge would be the last to relinquish the gasoline-powered stronghold, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis surprised everyone by declaring that the future of the muscle car fraternity will be powered by batteries.

The new Charger, riding on Stellantis's STLA Large platform, flaunts a beefed-up body that maintains its signature authoritative stance. Powering this beast, the entry-level Charger 340 features a 400-volt propulsion system, pushing out an impressive 455 horsepower.

However, the excitement doesn't stop there. The midrange 440 — our very own electric Scat Pack — cranks out a whopping 590 horsepower. Both variants will have the ability to receive over-the-air horsepower increases through Dodge's Direct Connection, with a promise of a multi-speed transmission on the horizon.

Yet, the true star of the show is the top-of-the-line Banshee model. Sporting an 800-volt system, the Banshee is predicted to have at least two motors. While Dodge is keeping the horsepower under wraps, they assure us that the Banshee will outshine the gas-powered Hellcat in all performance categories, including sound. The Charger EV's "exhaust" amplifying chamber is designed to deliver an exhilarating 126-decibel roar.

Against the competition, the Charger EV stands alone. While the Mustang Mach-E offers impressive speed and a domestic muscle car badge, its SUV-style body can't match the Charger's pure muscle car heritage.

Of course, there may be a few bumps along the way. Traditional muscle car devotees might resist this electric pivot. However, Dodge believes in the electrification of the muscle car and is committed to pushing forward.

If all goes well, we might see the 2024 Dodge Charger EV hitting the roads with a starting price in the ballpark of a current 392 Hemi model, which means an expected price point of at least $50K.

So, get ready for an electrifying ride with the 2024 Dodge Charger EV, a thrilling blend of old-school charm and futuristic innovation. Stay tuned to Kunes Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Platteville, WI, for more updates on this ground-breaking electric muscle car.
